Wellfleet Preservation Hall opened in May 2011 after 5 years of intensive fundraising. Local workers preserved and re-purposed Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church into a community center. In a few short years, Wellfleet Preservation Hall came to life, hosting over 600 Cape Cod events a year. Happily, this promotes a lively vibrancy in the center of downtown Wellfleet.
Even if the center has no live events during your stay, stop in to view the latest art show or take a tour. The nave, sanctuary and steeple of the original church were lovingly restored to the simple charms of the early 20th century. It's worth a stop in just to peek at the original tin ceilings, wood balcony and leaded glass windows.
Plus, the center's vibrant and unique doors are Instagram ready! Read this article about them in the Provincetown Independent and stop by and check them out during your stay.
