Independence Day on the Cape

Wellfleet's Independence Day celebration is back for 2021, so get ready for a day of classic Cape Cod holiday shenanigans!

Presented by the Chamber of Commerce, the town's July 4th parade is a good old-fashioned hometown hurrah with fun for the whole family. With hot dogs and star-and-stripes everywhere, the whole town (and seemingly, the whole Outer Cape), gets into the patriotic action.

Parade participants throw candy from the floats, so tell the kids to wear their best sneakers. It all begins with a nostalgic classic car parade at 9:30 am, followed by a judged float parade starting at 10:00 am. The route begins and ends at the town pier, which is a great place to watch. Don't forget to throw a few lawn chairs in your car on your way to the Cape. Then, recline and take in the action.

Independence Day Fireworks on the Cape

While Provincetown's traditional fireworks were cancelled for 2021, Hyannis is moving ahead with its celebration. The best viewing spots are the beaches around Hyannis Harbor and on the West Yarmouth beaches along Lewis Bay. Ask our front desk about the best places to shop and pack a picnic basket for dinner. Remember to stake out your spot in late afternoon and bring layers to prepare for the evening chill. Or, have a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant, then walk to the beach for the fireworks show.
